Overview

Flex (NP) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula traditionally used to help ease discomfort, tingling, and numbness in the extremities associated with nerve-related stagnation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this pattern is traditionally associated with blood stagnation obstructing the channels and collaterals. This traditional framework is not a medical diagnosis, and any ongoing or unexplained nerve-related sensation should be evaluated and managed by a qualified healthcare professional, since identifying and addressing the underlying cause is essential.

⚠️ Important: This formula is a complement to, not a substitute for, medical care. See the Safety & Contraindications section below for full precautions before use.

Clinical Applications & Benefits

Flex (NP) is traditionally used to help support:

  • Comfort during nerve-related tingling, numbness, and discomfort in the extremities
  • Healthy circulation to the hands, feet, and peripheral areas
  • General comfort in joints and extremities associated with stagnation patterns
  • Overall comfort alongside professional management of any diagnosed nerve condition

People managing nerve-related discomfort traditionally turn to formulas like this one to help support natural comfort and healthy circulation, always alongside identification and management of the underlying cause by a healthcare professional.

Key Herbs (TCM Data)

— Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis): traditionally regarded as one of the most valued herbs for comfort; traditionally used to invigorate blood circulation and support relief from discomfort.

— Dang Gui and Dang Gui Wei (Angelica Sinensis): traditionally used to open the channels and collaterals and support healthy circulation to the extremities; use with caution alongside anticoagulant medications.

— Bai Shao (White Peony Root): traditionally used to soften the Liver and support the tendons and sinews, helping to ease tightness, numbness, and tingling.

— Gan Cao (Licorice Root): traditionally used to harmonize the formula and support overall comfort.

— Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum): traditionally used to support healthy circulation and microcirculation to peripheral areas.

— Tao Ren (Peach Kernel) and Hong Hua (Safflower): traditionally used together to invigorate blood circulation and help ease stagnation.

— Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Bark): traditionally used to move blood and help ease local swelling associated with stagnation.

— Ru Xiang (Frankincense) and Mo Yao (Myrrh): traditionally used to support healthy blood circulation and promote general tissue comfort.

— Da Huang (Rhubarb Root): traditionally used to clear heat and support healthy blood circulation; see the Prop 65 warning above.

— Qiang Huo, Qin Jiao, Huang Jin Gui, Mo Gu Xiao, and Liu Zhi Huang: traditionally used to support comfort in the joints and extremities.

— Er Cha and Xue Jie: traditionally used to support healthy tissue recovery.

Case Studies

The following reflect individual practitioner experiences and traditional use; results vary and are not guarantees of outcome for any individual.

"F.T., a 44-year-old woman and marathon runner, experienced knee swelling and discomfort limiting her activity, consistent with a qi and blood stagnation pattern with heat and phlegm accumulation. After a month combining Flex (NP) with Resolve (AI) and adjusting her diet, she reported the swelling had largely resolved and she returned to running."
"D.A., a 55-year-old woman, experienced heel discomfort and disrupted sleep, consistent with a Liver qi stagnation pattern with Kidney yin deficiency. After combining Flex (NP) with Circulation (SJ), she reported easing discomfort and steadily improving sleep."
