Overview

Respitrol (Cold)™ is a traditional Chinese herbal formula traditionally used to help support chest and thoracic channel comfort during cold-pattern breathing changes, such as occasional tight sensations, coughing, and clear or white fluids. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this pattern is described as Lung cold. Respitrol (Cold)™ is designed exclusively to help dispel cold, warm the interior, and support a natural, relaxed breathing rhythm as a supportive dietary complement.

⚠️ Important — This formula is not emergency treatment. Respitrol (Cold) is not a substitute for prescribed rescue devices, nebulizers, targeted medical therapies, or emergency medical care. If you or someone you're with is having a severe acute breathing crisis or respiratory emergency — struggling to speak, turning blue around the lips, or not responding to a rescue inhaler — call 911 or seek emergency care immediately. Do not delay urgent treatment to try an herbal remedy.

Contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing. Not intended for long-term use — discontinue once desired comfort is achieved; for ongoing support during remission, see Respitrol (Deficient) or Cordyceps 3. Those with heat-pattern or deficiency-pattern respiratory discomfort should use Respitrol (Heat) or Respitrol (Deficient) instead. Individuals with pre-existing liver or kidney disease should not take this formula, as Cang Er Zi (dry-fried) is metabolized by the liver and eliminated by the kidneys. If wind-cold transforms into wind-heat or Lung heat, use Lonicera Complex or Respitrol (Heat) instead. Children, and anyone with a diagnosed baseline respiratory concern or on prescribed pulmonary protocols, should only use this formula under practitioner or physician supervision.

Clinical Applications & Benefits

Respitrol (Cold) is traditionally used to help support:

  • Lung comfort during cold-pattern tight breathing sensations and thoracic channel stiffness
  • Wind-cold discomfort with sinus congestion, sneezing, watery eyes, and clear or white nasal discharge
  • General respiratory comfort with cold intolerance, chills, and a pale complexion

This formula is intended as a traditional wellness support and is not a substitute for medical evaluation. Anyone with persistent, severe, or worsening respiratory discomfort should be evaluated by a physician.

Safety & Contraindications

  1. Not emergency treatment. Not a substitute for prescribed rescue devices, nebulizers, targeted medical therapies, or emergency medical care. Call 911 or seek emergency care immediately for a severe acute breathing crisis or respiratory emergency, bluish lips, or if a rescue inhaler isn't working.
  2. Contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing.
  3. Not intended for long-term use — discontinue once desired comfort is achieved.
  4. Those with heat-pattern or deficiency-pattern respiratory discomfort should use Respitrol (Heat) or Respitrol (Deficient) instead.
  5. Individuals with pre-existing liver or kidney disease should not take this formula.
  6. If wind-cold transforms into wind-heat, switch to Lonicera Complex or Respitrol (Heat).
  7. Children, and anyone with a diagnosed baseline respiratory concern or on prescribed pulmonary protocols, should use only under practitioner or physician supervision, and should never stop or adjust prescription medication without medical guidance.

Dosage & Directions

Standard: 4–6 capsules three times daily with warm water on an empty stomach. Traditionally begun at the first sign of respiratory discomfort.

Supplementary formulas: For sinus discomfort with clear, watery discharge, this formula is traditionally paired with Magnolia Clear Sinus. For sinus discomfort with yellow discharge, it is traditionally paired with Pueraria Clear Sinus. For ongoing prevention during remission, it is traditionally followed by Cordyceps 3 and Respitrol (Deficient).

Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle

Nutrition: Cold and raw foods and beverages are traditionally reduced, as they are believed to constrict the airways. Common allergens such as milk, eggs, shellfish, fish, and nuts are traditionally reduced if respiratory discomfort may be allergy-related. A diet low in spicy, raw, greasy, and sweet foods is traditionally encouraged. Cooling foods such as tofu, cucumber, and watermelon are traditionally reduced or paired with warming ingredients.

Lifestyle: Avoiding pollen, dust, and drastic temperature changes is traditionally recommended. Reducing dust and mold in the home, using an air purifier, and avoiding tobacco smoke are traditionally encouraged. Regular gentle exercise and balanced rest between episodes are traditionally encouraged to support overall Lung health. Taking immune-supporting herbs such as Cordyceps 3 or Immune + on a regular basis is traditionally recommended for ongoing support.

Case Studies

The following reflect individual practitioner experiences and traditional use; results vary and are not guarantees of outcome for any individual. All patients remained under appropriate medical or practitioner supervision, and none of the cases below involved discontinuing or delaying prescribed medical treatment.

"A man with chest tightness, wheezing, and cough, consistent with a cold-heat mixed pattern, took Respitrol (Cold) and reported ongoing improvement, with lighter symptoms during subsequent episodes."
"A man with cough, thick nasal discharge, and fatigue, consistent with wind-cold, combined Respitrol (Cold) with a supplementary formula under his practitioner's care and reported his sinuses clearing within a few days."
