Overview
Osteo 8 is a traditional Chinese herbal formula traditionally used to help support healthy bone density and strength, and to support the body during recovery from bone fractures. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, bone health is traditionally associated with Kidney and Liver function, since the Kidney is traditionally said to store the jing (essence) that nourishes the bones. Osteo 8 is designed to help tonify the Kidney and Liver as a complementary traditional support alongside your physician's guidance on bone health.
⚠️ Important: Use with caution in patients with excess conditions or heat accumulation, or damp-heat in the lower jiao. Contains Dang Gui, which invigorates blood circulation — those on anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy such as warfarin should use with caution or avoid this formula. The safety of Dang Gui in individuals with hormone-dependent cancer is unclear — use with caution pending further study.
Clinical Applications & Benefits
Osteo 8 is traditionally used to help support comfort during:
- Age-related bone density concerns, including osteoporosis, as a complementary support alongside physician-guided care
- Soreness, weakness, and pain in the bones, lower back, and knees
- Recovery from bone fractures, alongside appropriate medical care
Anyone with osteoporosis or a bone fracture should be under the care of a physician for diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment planning. This formula is a complementary support, not a substitute for that care.
Key Herbs (TCM Data)

Dosage & Directions
Standard dosage: 3–4 capsules three times daily on an empty stomach with warm water. For general maintenance, 2 capsules daily.
Supplementary formulas: For low back and knee soreness, this formula is traditionally paired with Back Support (CR). For bone fracture recovery, it is traditionally paired with Flex (TMX). For overall fatigue and deficiency, it is traditionally paired with Imperial Tonic. For menopause-related bone health support, it is traditionally paired with Balance (Heat).
Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle
Nutrition: Sufficient dietary calcium, ideally paired with vitamin D, is traditionally encouraged. Caffeine, excess dietary fiber, alcohol, and excessive protein are traditionally noted to impede calcium absorption. Foods rich in plant estrogen, such as soybeans, are traditionally encouraged.

Case Studies
The following reflect individual practitioner experiences and traditional use; results vary and are not guarantees of outcome for any individual. All patients remained under physician care and monitoring for bone health.
"A woman with a family history of osteoporosis, consistent with a blood deficiency pattern, combined Osteo 8 with calcium and magnesium support, regular weight-bearing exercise, and dietary changes under her physician's monitoring, and reported her bone density measurements improved over several months."
"A woman with a family history of osteoporosis and mild bone density concerns, consistent with Kidney deficiency, took Osteo 8 under her physician's ongoing monitoring and reported her bone density measurements remained stable and normal over the following two years."
"A woman with joint pain worse in cold, damp weather, consistent with a cold-damp obstruction pattern, combined Osteo 8 with a supplementary formula and reported her joints felt noticeably less stiff within about a week."
