Overview
Dissolve (KS) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula traditionally used to help support kidney and bladder comfort, including for kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), bladder stones (urolithiasis), and renal colic. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this pattern is traditionally referred to as shi lin (stone dysuria) and is associated with damp-heat accumulation in the lower jiao. Dissolve (KS) is designed to help support the body's natural processes for clearing this damp-heat and easing discomfort.
⚠️ Important: This formula is a complement to, not a substitute for, medical stone management. See the Safety & Contraindications section below for stone-size limits, kidney infection emergency guidance, and pregnancy precautions before use.
Clinical Applications & Benefits
Dissolve (KS) is traditionally used to help support:
- Channel comfort during temporary lower jiao fluid urgency
- Smooth circulation and healthy fluid flow through the kidney and bladder channels
- Localized tension relief in the flank and lower abdominal area
Anyone experiencing these concerns should be under the ongoing care of a physician, with diagnostic imaging used to properly evaluate the underlying cause before use. This formula is a complementary support and is not a substitute for that care.
Key Herbs (TCM Data)
— Jin Qian Cao (Lysimachia) and Hai Jin Sha (Lygodium Spore): traditionally used to help support the body's natural fluid circulation and channel clearance in the lower jiao.
— Shi Wei (Pyrrosia Leaf): traditionally used to help support the body's natural channel clearance processes.
— Ze Xie (Alisma), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), and Fu Ling (Poria): traditional herbs used to help support healthy fluid circulation and channel clearance.
— Zhi Qiao (Bitter Orange) and Wei Ling Xian (Clematis): traditionally used to help activate qi circulation and open the channels to help ease localized tension.
— Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis) and Chuan Lian Zi (Toosendan Fruit): traditionally used to help ease localized tension and support smooth channel flow.
Safety & Contraindications
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing.
- Not suitable for stones too large to pass — surgical intervention may be the necessary treatment for acute pain associated with stones greater than 2.5 cm in diameter.
- Anyone with a kidney infection or acute pain from kidney stones should seek medical help immediately.
- Confirm stone size with imaging (such as ultrasound or X-ray) before starting this formula, and remain under the ongoing care of a physician.
- For chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, or proteinuria, use Kidney DTX instead, under physician guidance.
Dosage & Directions
Treatment: 3–4 capsules three times daily on an empty stomach with two glasses of warm water. Dosage may be increased to 6–8 capsules three times daily when necessary, under physician guidance.
Maintenance: 1–2 capsules daily for six months is traditionally used to help support against the formation of new stones. For ongoing support, 2–3 capsules once daily.
Clinical notes: Kidney stones can be asymptomatic; flank pain that spreads across the abdomen may indicate the stone is moving through the ureter. If stones are too large for herbal support alone, this formula may be traditionally used alongside medical monitoring under a physician's care, with plenty of fluids to help flush fragments. Back discomfort from kidney stones should be evaluated by a physician to differentiate it from a muscle strain, with imaging used to confirm.
Supplementary formulas: For advanced channel clearance alongside intensive cooling support, this formula is traditionally paired with Herbal ABX. For lower body water accumulation and fluid balance support, it is traditionally paired with Herbal DRX. For structural comfort and channel circulation, it is traditionally paired with Herbal ANG.
Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle
Nutrition: For calcium-type stones, high-oxalate foods such as rhubarb, spinach, nuts, cocoa, tea, and pepper are traditionally reduced. For uric acid-type stones, foods that raise uric acid, such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish, are traditionally reduced. Adequate water intake — 8–10 glasses daily — is traditionally encouraged. Foods rich in vitamin A, such as carrots, yams, apricots, peaches, and mango, are traditionally encouraged.
Lifestyle: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day and urinating whenever the urge arises are traditionally recommended. If shooting pain in the kidney or bladder area occurs with fever or chills, seek medical help immediately to rule out kidney infection.
Case Studies
The following reflect individual practitioner experiences and traditional use; results vary and are not guarantees of outcome for any individual. All patients remained under appropriate medical or practitioner supervision, with imaging used to monitor their condition.
"A man with long-standing lower jiao channel sensitivity, who had been advised by his doctor to consider surgery, combined Dissolve (KS) with his physician's ongoing monitoring and reported easing of his discomfort over the following weeks."
"A woman with a longstanding history of lower jiao channel sensitivity, lower leg swelling, and night sweats, consistent with Kidney yang deficiency, combined Dissolve (KS) with her physician's ongoing care and reported easing of her swelling and discomfort."
"A man with sudden, severe lower jiao channel sensitivity, consistent with damp-heat stagnation, combined Dissolve (KS) with dietary and lifestyle changes under practitioner supervision and reported his discomfort easing within hours."
"An older woman with a long history of recurring lower jiao channel sensitivity despite prior lithotripsy combined Dissolve (KS) with complementary formulas and her physician's ongoing monitoring over several months and reported a reduction in the frequency of her flare-ups."
