Back Support (AC)™

Acute pain and inflammation of the lower back; or chronic pain with acute flare-up

⚠️ For short-term use only — switch to Back Support (CR) when pain becomes chronic. Contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing. Do not use if fever and one-sided back pain are present (possible kidney infection — seek medical care). If pain radiates to extremities with sudden loss of bladder or bowel control, seek emergency care immediately (possible cauda equina syndrome).

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

* Acute low back pain (lumbago)

* Back pain from sports or traumatic injuries — sprains, strains, subluxation

* Back pain from strenuous exercise or repetitive movements (grocery workers, warehouse/assembly line workers, and similar occupations)

* Back pain with inflammation, swelling, or redness

* Chronic back pain with acute exacerbation or re-injury

WESTERN THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS

* Analgesic effect to relieve pain

* Anti-inflammatory action to reduce pain and swelling

* Muscle-relaxant effect to alleviate spasms and cramps

* Takes effect within ~30 minutes — ideal to take before acupuncture or tui-na for synergistic results

CHINESE THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS

* Relieves pain and opens channels

* Disperses qi and blood stagnation in the lumbar region

DOSAGE

Standard: 3 to 4 capsules three times daily as needed. Severe/acute pain: 6 to 8 capsules every 4 to 6 hours. Reduce to standard dose as pain subsides. Take on an empty stomach with two tall glasses of warm water (dehydration can contribute to back pain).

Transition protocol: Use Back Support (AC) for 1 to 2 weeks for acute pain. Once pain subsides, switch to Back Support (CR) to consolidate the effect and address underlying deficiency.

Clinical evidence: Bai Shao + Zhi Gan Cao combination showed 84.67% effectiveness (105/124 subjects) for general pain; effective for lower back and leg pain in 33 elderly patients and 27 patients with severe back/leg pain. Yan Hu Suo (corydalis) achieved satisfactory anesthetic effect in 93.4% of surgical patients.
