Overview

Venus™ is a premium traditional Chinese herbal formula traditionally used to help support postpartum chest channel comfort, encourage healthy milk flow, and ease localized upper body tension. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, an interrupted or tight flow of milk is traditionally associated with Liver qi stagnation blocking the chest channels, often compounded by underlying qi and blood deficiency. Venus™ is designed exclusively to help spread Liver qi, unblock channel obstruction, and tonify deep postpartum depletion as a supportive dietary complement alongside professional lactation and nursing care.

⚠️ Important: Contraindicated during pregnancy. Contraindicated in those with acute infection or heat accumulation, fibrocystic breast disorders, hormone-dependent cancer, or a personal or family history of breast cancer or cancer of any gynecological organ. Do not take for more than six months, as this is a warming formula. Menopausal individuals should use with caution, as this formula may be too warming. Contains Dang Gui, which invigorates blood circulation — those on anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy such as warfarin should use with caution or avoid this formula. Some may notice breast tenderness after starting these herbs — this is traditionally not considered a cause for concern, but anyone with new or unexplained breast changes should always be evaluated by a physician.

Clinical Applications & Benefits

  • Supports healthy postpartum milk flow and natural upper body channel circulation.
  • Promotes localized chest channel comfort and eases temporary tightness or structural fullness.
  • Supports overall emotional grounding, meridian flow, and traditional channel harmony during nursing.

This formula is traditionally used for patterns of combined stagnation and depletion. Anyone experiencing sudden localized redness, heat, fever, or severe chest discomfort should immediately consult their primary healthcare provider or a certified lactation consultant.

Key Herbs (TCM Data)

— Lu Rong (Deer Antler Velvet): the chief herb in this formula, traditionally used to tonify ming men (life gate) fire and replenish jing (essence) and blood.

— Yin Yang Huo (Epimedium): traditionally used to tonify Kidney yang.

— Huang Qi (Astragalus): traditionally used to tonify the Spleen and support healthy muscle tone.

— Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis): traditionally used to tonify blood, promote healthy circulation, and support regular menstruation.

— Wang Bu Liu Xing (Vaccaria Seed), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), and Tong Cao (Tetrapanax Pith): traditionally used together to invigorate blood circulation and support lactation.

— Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica): a traditional channel-guiding herb used to help direct the other herbs' effects toward the breast area.

For chest channel comfort: 2–4 capsules three times daily on an empty stomach. The breast exercises below are traditionally recommended twice daily alongside the herbs.

For nursing support: 2 capsules daily. Discontinue if the baby develops diarrhea.

Supplementary formulas: For low libido, this formula is traditionally paired with Vitality. For postpartum recovery, it is traditionally paired with Imperial Tonic. For Kidney yang deficiency, it is traditionally paired with Kidney Tonic (Yang).

Breast Exercises: These traditional exercises are used alongside the herbs to help support connective tissue tone.

1. Circular Massage: Massage the breasts in a gentle circular motion moving outward, gradually widening to include the neck and shoulder. Repeat for 3–5 minutes.

2. Upward Stroke: Stroke the underside of one breast upward using alternating hands. Repeat 50 times per breast.

3. Praying Position: Stand tall with palms together at chest height, elbows level. Push palms together, then raise arms toward the forehead while keeping elbows level. Hold for 2–3 seconds, then release. Repeat 10 times.

4. Chest Expansion: Clasp hands behind the back, palms down. Take a deep breath, lift the chest, and raise the clasped hands slightly. Return to a relaxed position. Repeat 10 times.

Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle

Nutrition: A nutritious, protein-rich diet is traditionally encouraged, along with foods such as lotus seeds, sunflower seeds, yams, and leafy greens. Fried and fatty foods, excess sugar, and caffeine are traditionally reduced. For nursing support, traditional galactagogue foods such as oats, leafy greens, root vegetables, fenugreek, and legumes are traditionally encouraged.

Lifestyle: Well-fitting, non-restrictive bras are traditionally recommended, as tight garments may impair healthy circulation. A cool water rinse is traditionally used for a light toning effect — very hot water is traditionally avoided. Good posture and swimming are traditionally encouraged.
