Overview
Lonicera Complex is a traditional Chinese herbal formula, based on the classic Yin Qiao San, traditionally used at the very first sign of seasonal discomfort like a scratchy throat, mild fever, or head congestion. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this pattern is traditionally described as wind-heat invading the body's exterior. This traditional framework is not a medical diagnosis, and any infection that is severe, worsening, or lasting more than a few days should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.
⚠️ This formula is designed for wind-heat patterns. If you instead have wind-cold symptoms — clear nasal discharge, chills, headache — use Respitrol (Cold) instead. Seek emergency care immediately if fever is accompanied by a stiff neck, severe headache, mental confusion, or inability to lower the chin to the chest, as these can be signs of a medical emergency.
Clinical Applications & Benefits
Lonicera Complex is traditionally used to help support:
- Comfort during the earliest signs of seasonal throat and sinus discomfort
- General comfort during mild fever and head congestion
- Throat comfort during soreness and swelling
This formula is traditionally taken at the first sign of seasonal discomfort, alongside rest and plenty of fluids.
Key Herbs (TCM Data)
— Jin Yin Hua (Honeysuckle Flower) and Lian Qiao (Forsythia Fruit): the two principal herbs, traditionally used to clear heat and eliminate toxins.
— Ban Lan Gen (Isatis Root) and Da Qing Ye (Isatis Leaf): traditionally used to clear heat and ease throat discomfort.
— Jing Jie (Schizonepeta) and Bo He (Peppermint): traditionally used to ease exterior wind-heat symptoms.

— Ye Ju Hua (Wild Chrysanthemum) and Pu Gong Ying (Dandelion): traditionally used to clear heat and toxins.

- Any infection that is severe, worsening, or lasting more than a few days should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.
- Traditional TCM patterns and actions described here are not a diagnosis and are not a substitute for medical care.
Dosage & Directions
Standard dosage: 4 capsules three times daily on an empty stomach with warm water, beginning at the first sign of discomfort and continuing for 1–2 weeks or until symptoms resolve. For faster relief, some practitioners increase to 6 capsules four times daily.
Supplementary formulas: For cough and phlegm, this formula is traditionally paired with Respitrol (CF). For sinus discomfort with yellow discharge, it is traditionally paired with Pueraria Clear Sinus. To support immunity between seasonal flare-ups, it is traditionally paired with Immune +.
Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle
Nutrition: Mint, chrysanthemum flowers, cilantro, and plenty of fluids are traditionally recommended during seasonal discomfort. Reducing shellfish, greasy or sweet foods, and stimulants like coffee and alcohol is also traditionally encouraged.
Lifestyle: Adequate rest, keeping the head and neck covered and away from drafts, and steam inhalation to ease throat and sinus discomfort are traditionally recommended. Staying isolated from others while unwell and returning to normal activity gradually is also traditionally encouraged.
