Overview
Flex (SC) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula based on the classical Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang, traditionally used to help ease muscle tightness, spasms, and cramping in both the limbs and the abdomen. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this pattern is traditionally associated with Liver yin and Liver blood deficiency, since the Liver is traditionally understood to govern the tendons and sinews. This traditional framework is not a medical diagnosis, and persistent, severe, or unexplained muscle symptoms should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.
⚠️ Important: Not intended for long-term use in individuals with hypertension, as prolonged use of Zhi Gan Cao may be associated with water retention. Contains Dang Gui Wei; use with caution or avoid alongside anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications due to increased bleeding risk.
Clinical Applications & Benefits
Flex (SC) is traditionally used to help support:
- Comfort during muscle spasms and cramping in the limbs
- Comfort during cramping affecting the abdomen and digestive area
- Muscle tightness and stiffness from repetitive movement
- Comfort during occasional muscle tightness and physical tension from strenuous activity
People experiencing muscle cramping, tightness, or spasm traditionally turn to formulas like this one to help support natural comfort and relaxation.
Key Herbs (TCM Data)

Alkaline-rich foods like fresh vegetables, alfalfa sprouts, and seaweed are also encouraged. Reducing red meat, baked goods, and processed sugary foods, along with alcohol and smoking, is traditionally recommended.
Lifestyle: Gentle stretching before activity, warm baths, and staying well hydrated are traditionally recommended to help support relaxed, comfortable muscles. Avoiding tight shoes or clothing that restrict circulation is also traditionally encouraged.
