Sourcing and Formula Standards

Thoughtful sourcing. Clearly explained processes. A distinct role for every partner.

Our Role as a Distributor

Modern Herbal Formulas distributes herbal supplements purchased from Evergreen Herbs & Medical Supplies, LLC. We do not manufacture them. The sourcing, manufacturing, and quality-control practices below are reported by Evergreen; they are not processes performed or independently verified by Modern Herbal Formulas.

Ingredient Sourcing and Manufacturing Origin

Evergreen states that its herbal extracts are manufactured in Taiwan. Manufacturing location is distinct from the origin of individual raw ingredients.

Evergreen describes selecting herbs with attention to growing region, plant part, harvest timing, and preparation. It reports a preference for growers who follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), including attention to soil and water quality. This is not a claim of GAP certification or a specific country of origin for every ingredient.

Herbal Identity and Quality Testing

According to Evergreen, identification methods include visual and sensory examination, microscopic examination, and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is used to assess selected herbal constituents.

Evergreen's described testing program includes individual heavy metals, including lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic; microbial testing, including E. coli and Salmonella; total microbial counts; yeast and mold; and moisture and ash measurements.

Additional screening for pesticides, aflatoxins, ochratoxin, aristolochic acid, and aconitine is performed when applicable. Evergreen reports using its own laboratories and independent laboratories in the United States. Applicable tests and results should be established from product- and batch-specific documentation; not every listed test necessarily applies to every product.

Extraction, Ingredients, and Lot Tracking

Evergreen describes washing and preparing herbs, traditional pre-extraction processing where appropriate, and high-pressure, low-temperature extraction with purified water. Its process includes enclosed vacuum drying and granulation, followed by sealed, labeled batches with lot-number tracking.

Processing ingredients differ by product line. Evergreen identifies non-GMO corn starch for Classic herbs and formulas, non-GMO potato starch for Collection formulas, and sometimes maltodextrin for Western herbs. Refer to the individual product label for its ingredients; this overview is not a universal ingredient or allergen statement.

Manufacturing Standards and Environmental Practices

Evergreen states that it follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and references FDA and WHO guidance. This page does not claim FDA or WHO approval, or independently verified GMP certification.

Evergreen also reports reusing certain post-extraction herb residues as fertilizer and following CITES-related sourcing controls for protected species. These descriptions are not product-specific sustainability certifications or verification of individual permits.

Storage at Modern Herbal Formulas

We store products in our office in their original sealed containers, away from direct sunlight, excess heat, and moisture.

Certificates of Analysis and Document Requests

Evergreen states that it retains a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch of herbs produced. A COA records batch testing information; it is not a guarantee of clinical effectiveness or an absence of risk.

Contact Evergreen directly to request available quality documentation for a particular product or lot. Evergreen can advise which certificates or batch records are available to share.
